Globe Rebate Ends Up to Line Disconnection

My love and hate relationship with Globe could have ended this month of May when I decided to finally cut all my four subscriptions --two cellphone lines, one iPad sim for plan 999, and one Globe Tattoo plan 1299. My very first Globe subscription is over 6 years now while the latest is just on its 6th month. I got no problems with the first three subscriptions (of course this does not include the problems I encountered with Globe Prepaid Sims), but my latest Globe plan -- the ever reliable (if you're dumb, you'll believe) Tattoo Plan 1299 subscription-- gave me 6 months of continuous headache!

However after I visited SM Makati Globe Service Center last May 17 to get my Globe Tattoo pocket wifi unit (hooray, finally it's working! I will tell you next time the wonderful history of my Globe pocket wifi subscription and how many months it stayed with Globe service center), and Globe offered me one month rebate as a peace offering for all the hassles --I decided to give myself a time off to high-blood pressure; okay, I will stay with Globe I told myself.

10 days have passed and my pocket wifi works (but I didn't dare test the speed of the supposedly up to 7mbps Globe Tattoo--saving myself from regrets that is), and this morning 28th May I received a text from Globe 290 with this exact message "We regret to inform you that we have temporarily redirected your outgoing services. Meanwhile, you may still receive incoming calls and texts. Please settle your overdue balance amounting to P 1178.72 to resume services. You may....".

Did I drink some sort of vodka? Or is it Globe that's pissed like a potato?

Why do I have an overdue balance when on May 17 I paid the full amount less the rebate they gave me?

I called Globe Customer Service and to keep this post short here's the reason why they put my line to temporary disconnection:

Yes, I was given a rebate and I have no outstanding balance because I paid the whole amount less the rebate. Unfortunately, the rebate that the Globe Business Center posted was not automatically credited on my bill ---it will be credited on next billing cycle-- so the system thought I still have an outstanding balance. Great system, isn't?

So what's the solution? The customer service representative told me that next time a Globe Business Center gives me rebate I should call Globe Hotline and report it, that way they will not disconnect my line. Silly it may sound, but that's how Globe works.

Ending of the story? They are sorry for the hassle (AGAIN!?) and asked me to wait within 24 hours for the reconnection.

I am able to create this new blog because Globe reconnected my line in less than 24 hours. Should I be thankful?
